November 6, 2001
Never repeat Hiroshima in Afghanistan! Unite! Workers and students world
wide, to stop the bombing of Afghanistan Now!

To the people all over the world who oppose to the war on Afghanistan,
You or your organization  will  be  highly appreciated if you send us
solidarity  statement  for our anti-war strike on November 16 on Hiroshima
University  Campus.
Is it justified in the name of victims of September 11th guerilla attack
on the twin NY Trade
Center towers and the Pentagon when USA army uses Cluster bombs and kill
over 1000 innocent people and make over one million refugees? We have to do
everything we can do to stop the war immediately. The weaker our protests
are, the more number of victims increase.

We want  to express  our respect  and  solidarity  to  all  the  people
around the  world  who engage themselves in the activities  protesting the
USA  war on  Afghanistan  from  Hiroshima which witnessed the first Atomic
bombing  assaulted  on  human being.
We are members of “Hiroshima  University  Anti-War  Strike  Convergence”
organized  by conscious students  of Hiroshima  University.  We are  now
planning  to  dare to  strike  against the Afghanistan War by USA and
Britain supported  by  Japanese  Government  on  November  16t h  as the
second  action  after the demonstration in  Hiroshima  City  on  October
21st ; international anti-war day which began in 1968 protesting  the
Vietnam War.
We think that the might to stop this dirty aggression  is  the  unity  of
workers  and  students all over the world in solidarity  with the anti-war
struggles in the Islamic  world. Above  all, the  most  important  and
decisive  struggle  must  be  s houldered  by the  workers  and  students
both in USA and Japan because these two nations are the very concerned. We
should  fight with our war waging governments to smash their war policy
devoting  every  resources  we  have. We are not  allowed  to  let  our
government  conduct the  ruthless and inhumane  air bombing  of Afghan
people  without  any  fear  that  if  they  continue the war as they  like
the  unstable political  situation  may  grow  to  the  extent to  topple
the  governments.  We think for that aim we desperately  need  anti-war
strikes  everywhere  in  the  societies  which  support  the Afghan  War if
not criticized  severely  by  strikes. Our anti-war strike  plan  is  based
on  this thought.
We, who study in Hiroshima and know very well what misery the modern war
bring about after experiencing  the tragedy  caused  by  A-bomb , strongly
enounce  this  aggressive  war. We protest  not  only  USA  but Japanese
Koizumi government  which  e nact  the  law of dispatch  of the Self Defense
Army to the Indian Sea to assist  USA  army  kill  Afghan  people  violating
the Peace Constitution.
Japan  was the  worst  aggressor in the  Asia  d uring  WW Ⅱ killing
over 30  million  Asian people after every Japanese  anti-war  resistance
had  surrendered t o the Emperor’s  authority using the spy system, torture
and  the  notorious  Maintenance of the  Public  Order  Act  by  which every
anti-war group was threatened to be executed for a treason  against  the
living  god; Emperor Hirohito. We reflect  our  shameful  history thoroughly
in  our  peace  struggle  since the end of the war. The Peace Constitution
which  says  in  the  article  9  that “the Japanese people forever
renounce war as a sovereign  right of the nation  and  the  threat or use
of  force as means of settling international disputes. The right of
belligerency of the state will not be recognized” was the one of most keen
expression of the Japanese people’s profound reflection on the war crimes.
Therefore we are firmly determined to fight against the critical war policy
of the Japanese government in order not to repeat the same crimes. Now it’s
time to organize the struggle strong enough to stop this unjust war
immediately. Especially we Japanese shoulder the important responsibility
when we see that without USA bases in Japan like Okinawa, Sasebo, so on USA
army can’t continue their attacks any longer.
Although our planned strike activity is limited to the Faculty of
Integrated Arts and Science, when we succeed in accomplishing the anti-war
strike, the mood on the campus, we are sure, turns to the anti-war direction
drastically because every students feel anxious this war may lead to the
third world war so wait for the chance to think over and discuss how to stop
this war.
Again, we want to ask all of you fighting for stop the war in  Afghanistan
to  give  us peace messages so that your message will encourage Japanese
students who are not necessarily familiar with the liberation struggle such
as Palestine Intifada and especially people’s sympathy in your countries
toward Afghan people because of the corporate journalism stance in favor of
USA war under the control of  the Japanese government war policy .
We are looking forward to your solidarity message heartily and we are
surely committed to meet your expectation for us to stop war by any means.
We sincerely hope this chance will serve the strengthening of solidarity for
international peace movement between us.
Thanks,
