IMPERIALISM KILLS IN EUROPE AND IN TURKEY

     Within a couple of days the city of Genoa became the theatre of a bloody conflict that is the reproduction of the war that opposes the exploiters against the oppressed people on a world scale. While a handful of bandits, who decide the destiny of millions of human beings, hide in a bunker in fear, thousands of militants from everywhere in the world are protesting against globalisation.

     The members of the G-8 summit who scare and hate the people didn't hesitate to shed the blood of those who are struggling for a more just world. Yesterday a demonstrator of 23 years old was murdered. While other demonstrators had been running for their lives, tens of people
were wounded and hundreds of people were arrested.

     Carlo Giuliani was shot by the carabineri and afterwards they drove over his body with their jeep. We will remember this event as 'the massacre of Genoa'. The term globalisation is a soft expression to say imperialism kills coldly without mercy.

     In Turkey globalisation means torture and massacres in the prisons. As a country, which has got thousands of revolutionary prisoners and which,is needed by the IMF, torture through isolation is a drastic way to impose the ruling ideology.

     Actually the F type cell prisons aim to break the political identity and human dignity of the prisoners. But at the same time they are an instrument of intimidation against the opposition of the people. Against this oppression the revolutionary prisoners began a death fast on the 20th of October. On 19th December the revolutionary prisoners were brutally attacked by the fascist army in 20 prisons at the same time. As a result of this bloody operation 28 prisoners have lost their lives.

To date the resistance against the isolation cells imposed by imperialism has continued for 275 days and has cost the lives of 60 people.

The streets of Genoa and the prisons of Turkey are the same fight on two different fronts.

     Both in Genoa and in Turkey the armed forces of imperialism use bullets against those who defend their rights. On both fronts we can observe the cruelty of imperialism.

     While the anti-globalisation movement is still growing the challenge is to defend the two causes in a global spirit because the oppressed people need to unite their forces to achieve victory. Today, in commemoration of Carlo Giuliani and the political prisoners in Turkey and for all of the people in the world we have to unite in order to stop the killers.After the anti-fascist war the city of Genoa got the gold medal of Resistance. To remain loyal to the heritage of this resistance Genoa has to condemn fascism in Turkey.
